Spotlight 2009: Collecting money for the Democratic Republic of Congo
The war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) began 12 years ago and has officially ended, however, each day, women and children have been threatened with rape, torture, abuse and violation. According to analysts, sexual violence against women and girls is a facet of warfare that is often used as a weapon of terror to inflict physical and psychological damage. But in DRC, it is “systematic” and could be prosecuted as a crime against humanity or as a form of genocide.Collected money from the performances will be donated to the international cause (Women organization in DRC) and to a national cause (Women organization in Munich), supporting women in need, helping them to build safe places such as shelters, hospitals or counseling services.
Worum es geht:
V-Day ist eine globale Bewegung, die zum Ziel hat Gewalt gegen Frauen und Mädchen zu beenden. Gelder und Aufmerksamkeit für diese Problematik werden durch Aufführungen von Eve Enslers preisgekrönten Theaterstück The Vagina Monologues gewonnen.Wir sind Studenten der Ludwig -Maximillians University in München, offizielle Teilnehmer der Aktion und werden The Vagina Monologues im Juni 2009 aufführen.Unsere Ziele sind...

Spotlight 2009: Spenden für Frauen im Kongo
Der Krieg im Kongo begann vor 12 Jahren und ist offiziell beendet, aber trotzdem sind Frauen und Kinder jeden Tag von Missbrauch und Gewalt bedroht. Sexuelle Gewalt gegen Frauen ist ein perfides Mittel der Kriegsführung, das eingesetzt wird, um psychische und physische Schäden bei den Betroffenen herbeizuführen. Im Kongo wird diese Kriegswaffe systematische eingesetzt und könnte als Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit verfolgt und bestraft werden.Die Einnahmen der Theateraufführungen werden Frauen im Kongo zu Gute kommen und auch einer Organisation in München, die Frauen in Not betreut und ihnen Unterkunft und psychologische Betreuung anbietet.
